Marblehead immigration attorney Diann Baylis says her campaign is moving into a new phase after she qualified for the Sept. 1 Democratic primary ballot for Governor's Council in the 6th District.

Baylis submitted more than 1,380 certified nomination signatures to the Secretary of State's Office, according to her campaign. The Governor's Council reviews judicial appointments, pardons, commutations, treasury warrants and statewide election certification.

The 6th District includes parts of Boston; most of Cambridge; the cities of Chelsea, Everett, Lynn, Malden, Medford, Melrose, Revere and Somerville; and the towns of Lynnfield, Marblehead, Nahant, Reading, Saugus, Stoneham, Swampscott, Wakefield, Winchester and Winthrop.

"With my spot on the ballot secured this campaign is entering a new phase, and I'm excited to bring my campaign for change to voters throughout the 6th District," Baylis said.

Baylis represents children in immigration proceedings and has volunteered with the Lawyer of the Day program at Essex Probate Court. She is a member of the Marblehead Democratic Town Committee and represented Massachusetts as a delegate to the 2024 Democratic National Convention.
