The Marblehead Counseling Center's "Swamp-Stock: Rock the Night!" fundraiser brings five hours of live music and dancing to the new Swampscott Center for the Performing Arts on Thursday, Oct. 1, 6–11 p.m. — the center's first fundraiser in Swampscott.
Five bands play the night — B-Side Hustle, Glass Harbor, Funbucket, The MERJ, and Lois Lane and the Daily Planets — running from soul to country, funk, R&B and classic rock. Board member Ellen Ziff-Kessler spearheaded the event, and SCPA executive director Johnny Ray — also of The Beacon and Johnny Ray's Music Emporium in Marblehead — booked the bands.
Ziff-Kessler promised "something for everyone," and board president Ruth Ferguson thanked the sponsors, noting fundraising covers about a quarter of the center's operating costs.
