Marblehead Counseling Center has opened nominations for its second annual $1,000 Community Scholarship Award, aimed at supporting local high school graduates who plan to pursue careers in health and wellness fields.

The scholarship is intended to encourage students interested in mental, social and physical health professions, which the organization said face growing workforce needs. The award will be given to one qualified student who lives within the counseling center’s service area, which includes Marblehead, Swampscott, Lynn, Nahant, Peabody, Salem and Danvers.

Community members are encouraged to nominate students who demonstrate a commitment to contributing to the health and well-being of others. The recipient will receive a $1,000 award to support postsecondary education or training.

In addition to the student scholarship, the nonprofit is also seeking nominations for its second annual Amy Saltz Community Champions Award, which recognizes individuals who have made meaningful contributions to the community. That award was announced earlier this week, according to the organization.

Nominations and application materials for the Community Scholarship Award are available through the Marblehead Counseling Center’s website at marbleheadcounseling.org/awards/mcc-scholarship-award. Additional information about eligibility and the nomination process is posted online. A submission deadline was not listed in the announcement. The Marblehead Counseling Center provides mental health services to residents across the North Shore and works with schools, families and community organizations throughout the region.
