Marblehead High School honors performing arts students

Marblehead High School's performing arts seniors gathered for one more group photo May 21 as the school celebrated its annual Performing Arts Banquet and Awards.

The program recognized students in orchestra, chorus, band and theater. Lucas Rosen received the National School Orchestra Award, Andrew Niu received the Director's Award for Orchestra, Charlie Seliger received the National School Orchestra Award in chorus and Sadie Newburg received the Fred Waring Director's Award for Chorus.

Band honors went to Ian Chemel, who received the John Philip Sousa Award; Franklin Soon, who received the Patrick S. Gilmore Award; Lakai Parker, who received the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award; and Rex Rando, who received the Freshman Award of Excellence.

Theater awards went to Mattias Watts Cruz, Lucy Key and Niko King-Mahan for acting; Fiona Barr, Mollie Farber, Sam Peach, Monica Pechold and Rosen for technical theater; and Maya Belfbecker, Lilya Gurevich, Mary Prindiville and Grace Sweeney as outstanding freshmen.
