Paintings, drawings, photographs and mixed-media works by student artists from Marblehead Veterans Middle School and Marblehead High School will fill Abbot Hall Auditorium later this month when the MVMS-MHS Annual Spring Art Exhibition opens.

The exhibit runs May 14-27 at Abbot Hall, 188 Washington St., showcasing work by students in grades 7-12 and highlighting senior artists, according to the schools’ Visual & Applied Art Department.

A public reception is scheduled for Thursday, May 14, from 4:30 to 7 p.m., giving families, friends and community members a chance to meet student artists and view the display as the show gets underway.

Organizers said the annual exhibition is designed to celebrate student creativity and to bring the Marblehead community together in support of the arts. The show typically features a wide range of styles and subject matter, reflecting both classroom instruction and students’ individual interests.

The exhibition is open to the public. Admission is free.
