Brain cancer research seminar draws engaged audience

The annual Miles for Mary Research Seminar, held Nov. 3 at the Eastern Yacht Club, drew an engaged audience for presentations on cutting-edge brain cancer treatment research.

Dr. Elizabeth Gerstner, a neuro-oncologist at the Mass General Cancer Center, discussed progress in the INCIPIENT clinical trial using CAR T-cell therapy for brain tumors, while Dr. Michael Parsons, a clinical neuropsychologist, shared insights on how tumors and treatments affect cognition and daily life.

Organizers said the seminar was well attended and helped build community support for Miles for Mary’s ongoing efforts to raise funds for brain cancer research at Mass General Cancer Center. The event followed the group’s 13th annual 5K run and walk around Marblehead Neck, which raised additional money for the cause.
