Participation in the municipal trash collection program is now mandatory after voters approved a trash override, town officials said.
Residents may no longer decline the service, a change from the previously proposed fee structure that had allowed them to opt out.
Officials said new trash bins should not be returned to the Assessor's Office. No abatement, credit or refund will be issued for returned bins. Residents with questions about bins, collection services or related matters should contact the Board of Health directly.
Residents seeking information about property tax exemptions can visit the town website, where the Assessor's Department has posted eligibility requirements, application forms and additional guidance.
The town is also implementing a new Senior Means Exemption program. Details on eligibility, application procedures and the program itself will be posted on the town website under the Assessor's Department once they are finalized.
Eligibility for the Senior Means Exemption will require applicants to first qualify for the Massachusetts Senior Circuit Breaker Tax Credit, officials said. Additional criteria may apply and will be outlined when the program information is released.
