Friends of the Marblehead Public Schools has closed out its most successful grant season to date and is turning its attention to its annual Summer Soirée on June 20.
The nonprofit, known as FRIENDS, has awarded 29 grants totaling $175,000 over the past two years to support educational programs across the district, according to Kate Tetirick, who represents the organization. This year’s grants reach every grade level and subject area, and two of them were written and submitted by students.

Among the funded projects for the 2025-2026 school year is a set of reusable art frames at Glover School, written by the art teacher, that allows student work to be displayed throughout the building. A second grant placed an Inchy the Bookworm book vending machine at Brown School, an initiative drafted by a group of students. Village School piloted the book vending machine concept in 2024-2025, and its success prompted Glover to pursue one this year.
The Summer Soirée on June 20 serves as the organization’s main fundraiser to sustain the grant program in the coming school year.
