A GoFundMe fundraiser created to support the Marblehead family of Joe Carpineto had raised more than $51,000 toward its $60,000 goal as of this week, according to the campaign page.

The fundraiser, titled Support for the Carpineto Family, was launched three days before Christmas by friends of the family following Carpineto’s unexpected death. Carpineto is survived by his wife, Sherri, and their two sons — Harry and Will.

In a statement posted on All Marblehead, Sherri Carpineto described the sudden loss and its impact on their family.

“Asking for help is NOT my strong suit, but here we are,” she wrote in an All Marblehead Facebook posta. “On Monday my beloved husband passed away unexpectedly leaving behind our two boys to navigate their teenage years without their dad.”

In her statement, Sherri Carpineto said her husband was deeply involved in his sons’ lives, hosting end-of-season parties for Marblehead Youth Football and attending sporting events and school activities.

She also wrote that Joe Carpineto owned J&S Brandi’s for several years, where he showcased his cooking, and volunteered to sponsor part of the Arts Festival champagne reception each year.

“But above all, he was an amazing dad,” she wrote. “My only hope is we can find a way to stay in our home, and that’s the only ask of my kids.”

According to the fundraiser description, the campaign was created to help the family manage immediate financial needs following Carpineto’s death. The page encourages donations of any amount and asks supporters to share the fundraiser if they are unable to contribute financially.

Sherri Carpineto thanked community members who have reached out during the holiday season, writing, “We are grateful and fortunate to be a part of this community.”

She closed her message with a reminder to others: “Hug those you love a little tighter.”
