Marblehead library crafts stars to showcase shelter cats

The Abbot Public Library is launching a December craft project that invites children to decorate paper stars with photos of cats from the Marblehead Animal Shelter in an effort to help the animals find new homes.

The program, promoted through a flyer provided to the library’s patrons, encourages kids to “add your creativity and holiday spirit to help these furry friends find loving homes.”
The drop-in sessions will take place in the library’s Children’s Room.

The first event, “Adopt a Star,” is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 2, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. A second session focused on making cat toys will be held Thursday, Dec. 5, during the same hours. Registration is required for the toy-making workshop, according to the flyer.

The promotional material notes that all craft supplies will be provided and describes the project as “a purr-fect way to spread cheer this December.” Organizers say the activity is designed for all ages and aims to raise visibility for adoptable cats at the local shelter.

The flyer invites families to stop by throughout the month to view the finished “Shelter Kitty Stars,” which will be displayed in the Children’s Room.
