In celebration of its 70th anniversary, Marblehead Little Theatre (MLT) will hold a Gala at Abbot Hall, 188 Washington Street, Marblehead, MA. The evening begins at 7:00 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 so that attendees can bid on silent auction items and purchase raffle tickets, while enjoying Prosecco, Pellegrino and desserts. It will consist of numerous musical performances featuring singers from musicals performed at MLT going back to the 1960s with a 20-piece orchestra accompaniment. Throughout the night, MLT will present a Ginny Award* to honor nine members who have significantly contributed to its success.Songs included are: “Much More,” from The Fantasticks, sung by Ari Conte; “Send in the Clowns” from A Little Night Music, performed by Ursina Amsler, and Ted Merritt and Nick Economou hamming it up to “Brush Up Your Shakespeare,” from Kiss Me Kate! *The Ginny Awards were established in 2018 in honor of MLT Board Member and contributor Virginia “Ginny” Morton. A talented actress, writer, musician, director and producer, Morton served as a board member of MLT co-founder/director of the Arts at Tower School summer camp, and as a producer and production manager for The Revels in Cambridge. She was instrumental in acquiring a permanent home for MLT at the old Firehouse on School Street. Sadly, Ginny died in 2022 but her legacy lives on.
