A peaceful “No Kings” rally is scheduled for 4 p.m. Oct. 18 at the corner of Maple and Lafayette streets, according to organizers.

The one-hour protest, co-organized by the League of Women Voters of Marblehead, invites the public to bring signs opposing what organizers describe as the administration’s “continued move toward authoritarianism.”

The event is part of a national “No Kings Day of Peaceful Protest,” with demonstrations planned across the North Shore and Boston. The League of Women Voters of the United States is a partner in the national action alongside groups such as the ACLU, American Federation of Teachers, Sierra Club and Common Cause.

Organizers said all events share a commitment to nonviolence and community safety. The weekly “No Kings” standout at the site will continue after Oct. 18 at its new time, 4 to 5 p.m.
