The Marblehead Fire Department will hold its annual Christmas tree burning Tuesday, Jan. 6, at Riverhead Beach, a longtime community event marking the end of the holiday season.
The bonfire is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m., and residents are invited to attend.

Christmas trees will be collected curbside beginning Friday, Dec. 26, and continuing through Tuesday, Jan. 6, before being transported to Riverhead Beach for the burn. Tree pickup will continue after the event through Jan. 16, according to the Fire Department.
After Jan. 16, residents will be required to bring trees to the town’s transfer station for disposal.
To be eligible for curbside pickup, trees must be free of all lights, ornaments and stands and must not be placed in plastic bags. Trees that do not meet these requirements will not be collected. Holiday wreaths, roping and garland will not be picked up.
The event is coordinated by the Marblehead Fire Department in partnership with the Department of Public Works.
Fire Chief Jason R. Gilliland and DPW Director Amy McHugh said the annual burning provides a safe and organized way to dispose of Christmas trees while offering residents a chance to gather for a winter tradition.
Residents are encouraged to follow all pickup guidelines to ensure timely collection and safe handling of materials.
