On Wednesday, March 18, Jim Trick, proprietor of Marblehead Opticians, hosted a fundraising event to support brain cancer research through Miles for Mary.

Friends and neighbors gathered at Marblehead Opticians for an evening of conversation, music and fashion in support of the cause. Guests enjoyed live music performed by Trick and refreshments. The event also featured a showcase of Maui Jim’s newest styles and customer favorites. As part of the event, 20% of all sales will be donated to support brain cancer research at Massachusetts General Hospital through Miles for Mary.

Miles for Mary was founded by Bill Park and his family in honor of Mary Park and other community members affected by brain cancer. Since it was founded in 2013, the effort has raised nearly $900,000 to advance research and increase awareness of evolving treatments for the disease.

“As a small business, it means a lot to be able to bring people together for something bigger than ourselves,” said Trick. “The support from our community was incredible, and we’re proud to contribute to the important work being done through Miles for Mary and Massachusetts General Hospital.”

Park added, “This event is a tremendous help to our mission. Seeing the community come together in support of brain cancer research is both inspiring and deeply meaningful. Every dollar raised brings us one step closer to better treatments.”
