Table of Contents

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2005 is launching a month of community events and donation drives to support local veterans and families in need.

On Saturday, Nov. 8, Jay Apt and The Malicaminos will perform at the Marblehead VFW as part of their “New Clothing Drive Donation Tour 2025.” The show begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Bessie Bunker, 321 West Shore Drive. Attendees are encouraged to bring new clothing items to help support homeless veterans.

The following weekend, on Saturday, Nov. 15, The Melody Makers — featuring Rick Broughton and Brian Ware — will perform a benefit concert for the Marblehead Food Pantry from 7 to 11 p.m., also at The Bunker. Proceeds and donations from the event will go toward stocking the food pantry’s shelves during the holiday season.

In addition to the concerts, VFW Post 2005 is collecting items for “Welcome Home Kits” to assist veterans moving into permanent housing. Needed supplies include laundry detergent, dish soap, sponges, throw blankets, cooking utensils, towels, oven mitts, disinfecting wipes, all-purpose cleaner, pots and pans, and plastic laundry baskets.

The post is also promoting thoughtful contributions to the Marblehead Food Pantry, emphasizing donations such as boxed milk, cooking oil, spices, tea, coffee, sugar, flour, and fresh produce. Canned goods with pop tops, can openers, feminine hygiene products, dish detergent, and cake mix with frosting are also welcomed.

Donations can be dropped off at the Bessie Bunker, 321 West Shore Drive, or directly at the Marblehead Food Pantry, 67 Cornell Road. For more information, contact VFW Commander Ron Knight at rknightaf85@verizon.net.
