A developing coastal storm is expected to bring heavy rain, strong winds and minor flooding to Marblehead and the North Shore beginning Sunday afternoon and continuing through Tuesday.
Forecasters said showers would move in from the south late Sunday, with steadier rain developing into the evening. Winds from the northeast are expected to increase overnight, with gusts of 30 to 40 mph possible along the coast. Temperatures will hover in the mid-60s during the day and drop into the mid-50s overnight.

The storm is forecast to peak Monday, bringing periods of heavy rainfall and stronger winds. Local totals may reach 2 to 4 inches of rain across eastern Massachusetts, raising the risk of localized flooding. High temperatures will remain in the low 60s, with gusts approaching 40 mph along exposed shorelines.
Coastal communities, including Marblehead, may see minor flooding on shore roads and low-lying areas during high tides. Waves could build to more than 10 feet offshore, increasing the risk of beach erosion.
Rain is expected to continue into Tuesday morning before tapering to scattered showers by the afternoon. Skies should clear by midweek, with sunshine returning Wednesday and highs near 60.
