Marblehead Little Theatre wants jugglers. It also wants acrobats, gymnasts, tumblers and anyone with circus training, and it will see them Sunday, Dec. 6, when it holds non-Equity auditions for the musical “Pippin” at its firehouse theater, 12 School St.
Performers 16 and older must register online for a singing slot, either 1 to 2:30 p.m. or 3:30 to 5 p.m., and must also attend a dance call from 2:45 to 3:30 p.m. Callbacks are Tuesday, Dec. 8, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Auditioners should prepare 32 bars of a song in the style of the show and bring sheet music in their key. An accompanist will be provided. Organizers say a dance combination will be taught and that performers with acrobatic or circus skills will get a chance to show them.
The show, with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Roger O. Hirson, follows a young prince searching for meaning and glory. A troupe of players led by a character called the Leading Player guides him through war, love and politics. Its songs include “Corner of the Sky,” “Magic to Do” and “No Time at All.”
Steve Black will direct. Andrew Hankinson is associate director; Lianne Bunting is music director; Aaron Swiniuch is choreographer; and Abbey Ross is stage manager. Christopher King is executive producer, and Lisa Fama and Doug Hill are producers. The theater did not announce performance dates.
The stage belongs to monsters first. “We Are Monsters,” a family musical with a cast of 21 young actors, is set in a Monster Cabaret where, once a year, monsters show the world who they are. Human kids who wander in meet vegetarian vampires and rock ’n’ roll werewolves. Performances are Nov. 14 at 5:30 p.m.; Nov. 15 at 1 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.; and Nov. 16 at 1 p.m. Tickets are $15.
The jazz group the Follen Angels returns Saturday, Dec. 5, at 7:30 p.m. for “An Evening at the Copacabana,” a one-night program of Rat Pack, R&B and Motown songs tied to the New York nightclub, including “Fly Me to the Moon,” “You Send Me” and “Beyond the Sea.” The concert raises money for Upstage Lung Cancer, a nonprofit that funds early detection research. Advance tickets are $30 by phone through Prime Time Promotions at 800-418-7771. Bob’s Discount Furniture is a sponsor.
Tickets go on sale Nov. 18 for “The Land of Sweets,” the second act of “The Nutcracker,” which Coastline Ballet Center and Marblehead Little Theatre will present Dec. 11-13. Set to music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, it is choreographed by Jessica Kreyer and Paval Gurevich. Show times and prices were not listed.
