12:28 p.m. — Dispatch advised Officer Taylor Nolasco that a gray Subaru Crosstrek reportedly involved in a Swampscott hit-and-run had been seen near Prospect Court. Nolasco located a vehicle matching the description on Prospect Street, noting a missing right front headlight consistent with collision damage. The registration was confirmed, and the resident at Prospect Court was instructed to contact Swampscott police directly. The incident was documented as assistance to a neighboring department.

7:45 p.m. — A resident met Officer Christopher Gallo at the station to report a missing watch and necklace after swimming earlier at the Jewish Community Center on Community Road. The resident said the watch’s location pinged near Intrepid Circle. Gallo confirmed that the women’s locker room required access and advised follow-up with the facility about entry controls and possible surveillance footage. The case remains under investigation.

7:30 a.m. — A crossing guard at Pleasant and Village reported to Officer Daniel Gagnon alleging that a white van had nearly struck him while he escorted a student across the street. The guard said the van braked hard and then crept forward despite the crossing signal. Officer Neil Comeau later located the van. Conditions were dark and rainy; no injuries were reported.

10:45 a.m. — Officer Christian Hennigar took a phone report from a Washington Street resident regarding an unauthorized credit card allegedly opened in the resident’s name with BILT Financial. The resident said activation emails arrived around 2:15 a.m. and that they had already frozen credit with all three bureaus and notified their banks. Hennigar filed the incident for documentation and potential follow-up.

1:17 p.m. — Officer Nicholas Michaud responded to Atlantic Avenue after a business owner complained that a commercial dumpster had allegedly been removed despite an active service contract. Michaud determined the disagreement to be a civil matter and advised both parties to consult counsel and the property landlord. The report was logged for record.

Oct. 16

9:15 a.m. — A resident came to the station to report, alleging two fraudulent checks discovered in their account: one for $1,100 in September and another for $4,500 deposited October 15. Officer Nicholas Michaud took the report, confirmed both checks bore forged signatures, and advised closing and reopening accounts. Michaud also recommended using bank-issued checks and scanning home computers for potential malware. The matter was referred to the Criminal Investigations Division for review.

Oct. 17

12:53 a.m. — While on patrol on Pleasant Street, Officer Samuel Rizos ran a registration check on a Mercury Mariner and found the plate listed as expired and non-renewable. Rizos stopped the vehicle near Gerry Street, confirmed the information, and — with Sergeant Timothy Morley’s authorization — had Bill’s Auto Clinic remove the plates and tow the vehicle to the owner’s home. The operator was cooperative.

8:47 a.m. — A resident met Officer Adam Mastrangelo at the station to report a possible home-repair scam. The resident said a man claiming to represent a chimney service offered a quote and requested a $600 deposit; an attempted electronic transfer failed, raising suspicion. Mastrangelo documented the incident and began follow-up.

Oct. 18

11:09 a.m. — A resident told Officer Adam Mastrangelo that a rent check mailed earlier in the month had allegedly been intercepted, altered, and presented at a local bank. The bank provided images of the check and the individual who attempted to cash it. The case was forwarded to the Criminal Investigations Division.

3:42 p.m. — Officers responded to a report of a suspiciously parked vehicle near West Shore Drive. After checking registration and speaking with the driver, officers determined the individual was waiting for a nearby resident. No violations were found, and the call was cleared without further incident.
