TO THE EDITOR: Support for Ann-Marie Jordan for School Committee

Table of Contents

To the editor:

As voters prepare to vote on June 9, I encourage those in town to take a close look at Ann-Marie Jordan. I know she brings experience, compassion and a unique perspective that would be incredibly valuable to our School Committee.

At a time when our schools face increasingly complex challenges — from budgeting pressures and staffing concerns to improving student wellness to maintaining academic excellence — Marblehead deserves leaders who truly understand how schools work from the inside. Ann-Marie has spent decades working in education as both an educator and school administrator, serving students and families in Marblehead and across the North Shore. Jordan most recently served as an inclusion teacher here at the Brown School and jumped in to assist during a temporary need for a special education team chair. She also served as the director of the Integrated Preschool program in Gloucester for over a decade, in additional other teaching and administrative roles. That depth of experience would provide a distinct and necessary perspective to our School Committee.

Just as important, Ann-Marie is a Marblehead parent. Her children graduated from Marblehead High School, giving her firsthand insight into the hopes, concerns and priorities of local families. She knows what parents want because she has lived it herself: strong academics, supportive environments, transparent communication and thoughtful decision-making that always keeps students at the center.

School Committee members are asked to make difficult decisions that affect every member in our community: balancing fiscal responsibility with educational quality; supporting teachers while advocating for students; and planning for the future of our district. Those decisions require judgment, empathy and real-world educational knowledge. Ann-Marie Jordan has demonstrated all three.

Marblehead is so fortunate to have someone with her background willing to step out of retirement and serve our town. Ann-Marie’s campaign and vision is focused on service, collaboration and doing what is best for our community. I believe she will be a thoughtful, steady and trustworthy voice for students, parents, educators and taxpayers alike.

I am confident voters will find Jordan to be an outstanding choice and look forward to casting my vote for Ann-Marie Jordan for School Committee. I hope you will, too.
