The town is moving forward with a series of municipal contracts covering building maintenance services and a major redesign of the Five Corners intersection in the business district.

A one-year contract valued at $41,752.80 with Katco Contracting Inc. will provide on-call interior and exterior painting services for municipal buildings. The agreement includes two optional one-year renewals and sets hourly labor rates along with a percentage markup on materials. Funding will be determined by the department requesting the work.

Boston Mechanical Inc. has been awarded a $74,080 one-year contract to provide on-call plumbing services, including installation and repair in town buildings. Like the painting contract, the plumbing agreement includes two optional one-year renewals and is structured around hourly rates and material markups.

Sherborn Consolidated Inc. will handle preventative maintenance and minor modifications for the town’s generators and automatic transfer switches under a one-year, $88,650 contract. That agreement includes up to four optional one-year renewals, reflecting the ongoing need for inspection and maintenance of backup power systems in municipal facilities.

Patriot Light & Power LLC will provide on-call electrical services for municipal buildings under a $59,990.40 contract. The one-year agreement, which includes two optional renewals, covers minor upgrades, emergency repairs and general troubleshooting.

In addition to the maintenance contracts, the town has awarded a $150,000 contract to Apex Companies LLC for the design of improvements to the Five Corners intersection, where Atlantic Avenue, Washington Street, School Street and Essex Street converge. The project will focus on redesigning the geometry of the intersection to reduce speeding, improve safety and enhance multimodal access, with an emphasis on complete streets principles. The design contract runs from February through Sept. 30, and it is funded by a $135,000 Mass Works grant and also the 2022’s Article 11 Roadway Improvement funds.
