Trash strike ends as Republic Services, Teamsters reach deal; Marblehead collection resumes

Table of Contents

Trash and recycling pickup in Marblehead will return to normal this week following the end of an 11-week strike by Republic Services workers.

The Marblehead Health Department announced that curbside collection resumed the week of Sept. 22. Residents are reminded to have trash and recycling at the curb by 7 a.m. The town transfer station, 5 Woodfin Terrace, is open to all residents with a current facility sticker, and the Swap Shop will be back to its regular Saturday schedule.

Republic Services and Teamsters Local 25 reached a five-year contract agreement Friday. The strike began July 1, leaving Marblehead and other North Shore communities to manage disrupted service.
