Marblehead Public Schools will be closed Monday, Feb. 23, due to the pending storm, Superintendent John Robidoux announced early Sunday afternoon.
All school activities are canceled, and all district buildings will be closed.
“Stay safe,” Robidoux said in a message to the Marblehead community.
Emergency crews will remain on duty while residents are barred from leaving cars, boats or trailers on public roads beginning Sunday night under a snow emergency.
Forecasters expect 10 to 20 inches with peak snowfall exceeding two inches per hour Sunday night into Monday, creating whiteout conditions and hazardous travel during both commutes.
