Anyone who lives or works in Essex County, attends school there or belongs to an arts association there has until 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30, to submit a logo for the 2027 Marblehead Festival of Arts, the festival said in an announcement. Professional and nonprofessional artists may enter.
Each entry costs $10, and each person may submit up to three. The winner receives $150. Designs must include the text “Marblehead Festival of Arts” and “July 1–5, 2027,” use no more than three solid colors and be submitted as .JPG or .PNG files.
The festival said the work must be original and cannot contain copyrighted material, sampled material, stock imagery or repurposed elements. Entries with AI-generated imagery “in any proportion” will be disqualified immediately, according to the announcement. The winner must supply a source file in SVG, AI or EPS format and may be asked to provide or approve additional color versions for printing. All submitted logos become the sole property of Marblehead Festival of Arts, Inc., and may be modified; the festival said it will make every effort to work with the artist on any changes.
Judges will choose semifinalists. The festival’s Board of Directors will review those selections and present finalists to the public, which will pick the winner by ballot in December at the annual Artisans’ Holiday Marketplace at Abbot Hall. The winner will be unveiled at a logo premiere party in January 2027. The announcement did not give dates for the marketplace or the party.
All entries will be considered, the festival said, but it will give priority to designs that evoke the arts, represent Marblehead through its spirit, history, landmarks or people, or have a hand-created look rather than generic corporate branding.
The logo will appear on merchandise, signage and web pages, and at year-round events that include the festival’s film festival, champagne reception and fundraisers, according to the announcement.
