Dr. Elizabeth Gerstner will return for her 15th Miles for Mary research seminar at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, at the Eastern Yacht Club. This year she will be joined by Dr. Isabel Arrillaga-Romany, according to a release from organizers.

Registration is open through the Miles for Mary website, www.milesformary.com. The release did not list a cost.

Gerstner is co-clinical director of neuro-oncology at the Mass General Brigham Cancer Institute, the release said. She is co-leading a clinical trial named INCIPIENT that uses CAR T-cell technology to treat patients with brain tumors. Organizers said the trial is still enrolling participants.

Arrillaga-Romany is a neuro-oncologist at the institute and an assistant professor of neurology at Harvard Medical School, the release said. She is also director of clinical trials in the institute’s Neuro-Oncology Division and will talk about the landscape of clinical trials for glioblastoma.

The seminar follows the 14th annual Miles for Mary 5K Run and Walk on Oct. 17 on the course around Marblehead Neck. Filip Grubor won the men’s run and Kylynn McKinley won the women’s. The Notch Running Club won the team title, defending its 2025 win. Organizers said hundreds took part and that student and team turnout was the best yet.

The race honors the memory of Mary Park. Organizers said all money raised goes to brain cancer research at the Mass General Brigham Cancer Institute and that more than $950,000 has been raised to date.

Miles for Mary is part of the Marblehead Road Race Series. The series ends with the Rotary Club 5K on Nov. 1.
