The Marblehead Museum will guide visitors through two centuries of the town's role in the struggle for freedom when it holds its Slavery to Freedom Walking Tour on Thursday, August 6 at 4 p.m.
The tour traces sites where enslaved people lived in Marblehead during the 1700s and moves through the 1800s, when black and white abolitionists fought for emancipation from multiple angles: through sermons delivered from local pulpits, votes cast at the ballot box and desperate journeys along the Underground Railroad.
