A new mixed doubles tennis league for residents of Swampscott, Nahant and Marblehead will begin play in early June.
Tennis coordinator Barry Cushner, former owner of the North of Boston Tennis League, is organizing the league with three playing levels: advanced, high intermediate and intermediate. The schedule includes a regular season followed by playoffs.
Free open tryouts to determine playing levels run from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on courts 3 and 4 at Swampscott Middle School on Forest Avenue on April 11, 19 and 25 and May 2, 9, 16 and 23. The entry deadline for all teams is May 27 and the fee is $49 per team.
