TO THE EDITOR: Support Julie Selbst for Board of Health

Table of Contents

To the editor:

I am writing to express my strong support for Julie Selbst for Marblehead Board of Health in the upcoming election on June 9.

Julie and I have gotten to know each other through our work on the Temple Emanu-El board of trustees and I couldn’t be more excited about the prospects of having her as a member on the BOH. Through our work together, I have seen her solicit feedback from congregants and other board members and then thoughtfully work to actively implement responses to their needs and concerns. She is kind, trustworthy and assertive in a respectful manner, especially when it comes to pushing for change for those she represents.

Perhaps more importantly, though, Julie is, simply put, brilliant, and would bring an extraordinary wealth of relevant knowledge and experience to the position and to the board more generally. Not only does she have a legal background, having worked as counsel in high-impact, high-stress environments related to securities regulation and finance, but more importantly, she is a physician in Massachusetts where she has navigated similarly high-pressure situations with care and compassion for over 25 years.

Julie Selbst has the perfect combination of personality, specific knowledge and relevant experience to be a leader and active advocate for true public health in Marblehead. She’ll be getting my vote on June 9!!

To the editor: Dear friends, Thank you for walking for peace on Sunday. What happened along the streets of Marblehead was quiet, simple and profound. Eighty of us — neighbors, strangers, fellow travelers — chose to walk in silence together, and in doing so, we made our intentions for peace visible. In
