Sometime later this summer, a text message, an email or a phone call will reach Marblehead residents who have signed up for it, asking two or three questions about a local issue. Answering will take about a minute. The window will close in 48 hours.
The town announced Wednesday that it has partnered with FlashVote, a private survey company that sells short, rapid-turnaround polls to local governments. Residents can register at flashvote.com/marbleheadma or by calling 775-235-2240, and can choose to receive surveys by email, text or phone. Participants get a summary of results once a survey closes.
"Community input is essential to effective local government," Town Administrator Thatcher Kezer said in the announcement. "FlashVote provides an easy and convenient way for residents to share their perspectives on important community issues. The feedback we receive will help Town officials better understand community priorities and make more informed decisions on behalf of Marblehead."
FlashVote is the name of both the company and the platform. What it produces is commonly called a flash survey — a short questionnaire pushed out quickly and left open briefly to capture timely reaction.
How residents can participate
Registration is at flashvote.com/marbleheadma or 775-235-2240. Residents choose how they want to be contacted. The first survey is expected later this summer.
