The town will perambulate its historic public ways starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at Abbot Hall, Town Administrator Thatcher Kezer told the Select Board on Oct. 28.

Town historian Don Doliber will open the event with an introduction. Participants then split up and walk their assigned routes on their own. The walk covers just over 2 miles and takes about 1.5 hours, and there is no rain date, according to Kezer's written update.

Kezer traced the tradition to about 1641. He said at least two people must cover every path and way, which is why the town needs residents to take part.

The last walk, a couple of years ago, went on in heavy rain. "Despite the downpour, it was actually fun, and folks enjoyed it," Kezer said.
